Trolling

" Would you like to know how the excursion was? "

..........

" Silly me, you're dead. But still. You're a good listener. "

.........

" You don't want to? Well, that's too bad. You will. It all started off .. promisingly. Very promising. We were to meet this Lord Farramain.. and of course I did my homework. He certainly is - quite - the interesting character. I was eager to see exactly how interesting he is.."

.........

" He did not disappoint. This mission was, by my admission... well-executed. Far from being held back by rules and mercy and all those silly little ideals... the man is ruthless. A man of intelligence as well... clever. There's much more to him than even he tries to reveal... and I'd like to know. "

...............

" Oh, but the Company? They were... honestly, I was disappointed. I of course realised there would be backlash. A warlock, oh no! Sound the alarm, he's actually KILLING people!"
........

" Typical... no, worse. There were no paladins or priests, or even that shaman. Even Demoran seemed in on this charade. Even... the death knight. Is this a mercenary company? We were sent on a mission to kill the village and what did we do? Plead for the lives of the trolls? "

......................

" Oh, far worse. No... no, in fact, I should have expected this. All that fuss over my demon. Oh, a demon, biting people! Not that a hunter's wolf does exactly the same thing. Not that it is to the same effect as a blade, an arrow, a fireball. No... in fact..."

.........

" Lilliat. Yes, the mage. She was terribly disappointing. I'd have thought she would see some reason in what I did.. she seemed like a logical individual. Oh no, she questioned me after. She - spared - them. The trolls. ' Innocents', and even some of the combatants... she made fake fire, and she did not inform me, and afterwards she had the gall to accuse me for doing what I was - told - to do? "

.........................

" And a direct portal to Dalaran. Really? Does she not realise an en-masse portal like this would risk the population of the city? She would rather save their lives and in the process put her fellow mages at risk? Stupid... so, very, tragically stupid. I've had a check myself on the trolls...disguised, of course. Cursed. Half the children were - cursed. Traces of crude curses expelled by the mages, and finer little spells designed to veil their effects on the creatures. The mages can handle the after-effects themselves, I'm not in the mood for charity. Suffice to say, she might as well deliver living bombs into the city herself. That's not even to say of the women. Of the warriors... screw them. Screw them all. Either the mages or the trolls will be killed, maybe both. I don't care. "

..............

" Oh, and what if they speak against us? That's right, suddenly we're genocidal murderers. That's the difference between a successful battle and one bogged down by laws. Witnesses. Yes, the trolls will speak out against us, and we will be challenged because of our activities... because we let them live. Stupid. So stupid. And worse.. "

........

" When I siphoned those on the ground, many of them were still alive. This is disgusting. This is... paladin work. Sloppy, inefficient, 'merciful'. And a danger to everyone else. Sparing the ' innocents' is one thing. Beating up a troll and letting him live.... such naivete. ' I'm certain they'll all come back and forgive us and we shall all live happily ever after as voodoo dolls!' "

............

" No. That's not happening. They're all - dead -. Gone. Removed of anything but the basest energies, and then consumed. No ghosts, only corpses that have been burned to ash. Efficient. Clean. And for cleaning up after them, what do I get? Do I get thanks? A pat on the back? Some recognition? ... No. After finally doing this - for - the guild, I am being spat on. Rejected. "

..........

" Yes, that's right. I've worked hard to earn my place in this association... this company. A - mercenary- company. I thought I had allies, but all I see are fools. Perhaps... all this patience has failed me, again. All this waiting. All this observation. Compliance, boot-licking, even aid. Just like the rest of the Alliance. I had thought them open-minded.. perhaps I was wrong. "

.............

" Yes, that's right. I did, at least... find that Lord Farramain up to expectations. I like the way he works... but he has other plans, I can see that. Perhaps they will be of more benefit to me. Perhaps.. but I am still patient. We'll see how things come out in due time. "

........

" Yes, I suppose I'll have to get rid of you ,too. Pity... you were a good listener. "
