Dreams of Desolation

( Special entry for my own amusement. Instead of the usual conversation, I decided to write out Ramazo's own' comfort' sequence had he been in there. It's probably a good thing for him he wasn't lost in Kara with them)

The scene fades away into darkness. Small lights flicker in the dark, each revealing a candle, and their combined light dimly illuminates a shelf, table and several stone ledges. A tap is heard, and the entire chamber is lit with a green glow from the floor, in the pattern of what appears to be a large rune. Dripping sounds are heard, and the rune begins to glow brightly. A small portal appears in the center, from which a tiny demonic hand appears. Slowly, an imp crawls from the portal, flashing a malicious grin to the group. " Masterrrrrrrr..." It intones, before the screen fades to black.

The scene changes to one of several people in black robes standing before the viewer. A pair of gnomish hands seems to hand out several intricately designed daggers, one to each of them in turn. Finally, a voice intones, " You may leave." After this, the scene sweeps by, and images of each of those people calling forth various spells and setting living creatures on fire are shown.

The scene, however, finally locks on an individual which is not one of those men. Instead, it appears to be a human man clad in golden armor, a stream of light flickering around him like an aura. His armor seems to be charred lightly, but the condition of his body appears worse as he grimaces, breathing hard while hunched down. In his arm is a hammer that he cannot lift, placed flat against the ground.

" D-demon...user..y-you are a monster.. a monster of the shadows... y- your evil will fade before the Light! W-we will - "

Someone is heard muttering under their breath, and the human cringes and roars in agony, the very skin of his face seeming to flake away like ash. Laughter is heard in the background along with another voice. " Oh, my my my. I'm shivering in my wicked boots. Please, mister paladin, save my soul. Or, better yet... save your own."

The paladin suddenly yells out and the light seems to glow brighter, surging through his body. The wounds on his face disappear and he charges forward to the group. The view suddenly shifts, showing the back of the paladin. More muttering is heard, and the paladin falls over, dropping his hammer as he screams. As the voice continues, the paladin writhes and starts to flake away again, parts of his face and head slowly just falling off.

This continues, along with echoing laughter, until finally all that is left is the paladin's armor with wisps of smoke rising from underneath. A small wisp of purplish energy flows from the paladin's remains to the screen, all the time accompanied by the muffled screams of the man.  As the last vestiges of that purple wisp disappear, the screen fades to the room.
